What is it used for?
Povidone-iodine 7.5% is an antiseptic used to clean the skin and help prevent infection during minor procedures, wound care or surgery, as directed by a healthcare professional.
How does it work?
It slowly releases iodine, which kills or reduces many types of germs, including bacteria, viruses and fungi, on the skin.
How to take/use it
For external use only. Apply to the affected skin as directed on the product label or by a healthcare professional. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth and other body openings. Do not swallow.
Common side effects
Temporary skin irritation, redness, dryness or a mild burning sensation. Stop use and seek medical help if severe irritation, swelling or difficulty breathing occurs.
Precautions
Do not use if allergic to povidone-iodine or iodine-containing products. Avoid applying to large areas, deep wounds or severe burns unless advised by a healthcare professional. Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in thyroid disorders, or with repeated or prolonged use. Keep out of reach of children.
