What is it used for?
Diclofenac is used to relieve pain, swelling and inflammation, especially in muscle, joint and arthritis-related conditions.

How does it work?
It reduces the production of substances called prostaglandins that cause pain, swelling and inflammation.

How to take/use it
Use diclofenac exactly as prescribed or directed on the product label. If it is an oral medicine, taking it with or after food may help reduce stomach irritation. Do not take more than the recommended amount or use it for longer than advised.

Common side effects
Indigestion, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache and dizziness.

Precautions
Avoid diclofenac if there is a history of stomach ulcer or bleeding, serious kidney, liver or heart disease, or an allergy to diclofenac, aspirin or other NSAIDs, unless specifically advised by a doctor. Seek medical help for black stools, vomiting blood, severe stomach pain, breathing difficulty or facial swelling. Do not combine it with other NSAID painkillers without medical advice. Tell the doctor if pregnant, especially after 20 weeks or during the last 3 months, or if taking blood thinners, steroids or medicines for blood pressure or kidney problems.
