What is it used for?
Ofloxacin 200 mg is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.
How does it work?
It stops bacteria from making the genetic material they need to grow and survive, helping clear the infection.
How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and swallow the tablet with water. Complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Do not take it at the same time as antacids or supplements containing iron, calcium, magnesium or zinc; ask a doctor or pharmacist about suitable spacing.
Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache and dizziness.
Precautions
Use only on medical advice. Stop taking it and seek medical help for tendon pain or swelling, numbness or tingling, severe mood or nerve-related symptoms, a severe skin rash, breathing difficulty or persistent watery or bloody diarrhoea. Tell the doctor about kidney problems, seizures, heart-rhythm problems, tendon disorders, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and all other medicines being taken.
