## Composition

Voglibose 0.3 mg + Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg SR (sustained release).

## Uses

Used to help control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, along with a healthy diet and regular exercise.

- Voglibose slows carbohydrate digestion and helps reduce the rise in blood sugar after meals.
- Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and improves the body's sensitivity to insulin.

## How to Use

Take exactly as prescribed, generally with or immediately after a meal to reduce stomach-related side effects. Swallow the SR tablet whole with water; do not crush, chew, or split it unless your doctor specifically says it is appropriate.

## Precautions & Warnings

Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, heart failure, severe digestive problems, or a history of lactic acidosis. Kidney function should be checked periodically while taking metformin.

Metformin can rarely cause lactic acidosis, particularly in people with significant kidney impairment or severe dehydration. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption.

If low blood sugar occurs while this combination is being used with insulin or another medicine that can cause hypoglycaemia, glucose/dextrose should be used rather than ordinary table sugar (sucrose).

## Possible Side Effects

Common side effects include:

- Gas, bloating, or abdominal discomfort
- Diarrhoea
- Nausea or vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Constipation
- Metallic taste

Long-term metformin use can reduce vitamin B12 levels. Seek urgent medical attention for severe weakness, persistent vomiting, difficulty breathing, unusual sleepiness, or severe abdominal discomfort.

## Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

If you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medicine. Your doctor will decide the most appropriate diabetes treatment.

## Storage

Store at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.

## Important Safety Information

Monitor your blood glucose as advised and continue your prescribed diet and exercise. Do not stop or change the dose without medical advice. Tell your doctor before an X-ray or CT scan involving iodinated contrast, as metformin may need to be temporarily withheld. Attend regular kidney-function and other recommended diabetes check-ups.
