What is it used for?
Vecuronium bromide injection is used during general anaesthesia to relax the muscles. It helps doctors place a breathing tube and keeps muscles relaxed during surgery or assisted breathing.

How does it work?
It temporarily blocks nerve signals to the skeletal muscles, causing muscle relaxation and paralysis. It does not provide pain relief or make a person unconscious.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given as an injection into a vein by an anaesthetist or other trained healthcare professional in a hospital. Breathing, oxygen levels and muscle function must be closely monitored, and breathing support must be available until its effects wear off.

Common side effects
Prolonged muscle weakness or paralysis, low blood pressure, flushing, changes in heart rate, breathing difficulty after the procedure, and allergic reactions may occur.

Precautions
It must only be used by trained healthcare professionals with equipment for assisted breathing and resuscitation. Tell the doctor about any previous reaction to muscle relaxants, neuromuscular disorders, liver or kidney problems, and all medicines being used. The patient must not try to move, eat or drink until muscle strength and swallowing have fully recovered.
