What is it used for?
This combination is used to treat certain bacterial infections when prescribed by a doctor. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
Cefixime interferes with the formation of the bacterial cell wall. Ofloxacin blocks enzymes bacteria need to copy and repair their genetic material. Together, they stop the growth of susceptible bacteria.

How to take/use it
Take only as prescribed and complete the full course, even if symptoms improve. Swallow with water and do not take it with antacids or mineral supplements containing aluminium, magnesium, calcium, iron or zinc at the same time; ask a doctor or pharmacist about suitable timing. Do not share leftover antibiotics.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach pain, indigestion, headache, dizziness and rash may occur.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to cefixime, other cephalosporins, ofloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics. Tell the doctor about pregnancy, breastfeeding, kidney disease, heart rhythm problems, seizures, tendon disorders or previous serious reactions to antibiotics. Stop taking it and seek medical help for tendon pain or swelling, severe or persistent diarrhoea, numbness or tingling, severe dizziness, breathing difficulty or a serious skin reaction.
