What is it used for?
Tramadol 50 mg is a prescription opioid pain reliever used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain when other pain medicines are not sufficient.

How does it work?
It reduces pain by acting on opioid receptors in the brain and spinal cord. It also changes certain chemical signals involved in how the body senses pain.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, with or without food. Do not take more than prescribed or use it for longer than directed. Do not stop regular treatment suddenly without medical advice. Avoid driving or operating machinery until its effects are known.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, dry mouth and tiredness.

Precautions
Tramadol can cause dependence, serious sleepiness and slowed breathing. Avoid alcohol and do not combine it with sleeping tablets, sedatives or other opioid medicines unless specifically advised by a doctor. Tell the doctor about seizure disorders, breathing problems, liver or kidney disease, pregnancy, or use of antidepressants. Seek urgent medical help for very slow or difficult breathing, extreme sleepiness, seizures, confusion or agitation with sweating and fever.
