What is it used for?
Torsemide is a prescription diuretic used to reduce excess fluid swelling (oedema), especially in heart failure and sometimes in kidney or liver-related fluid retention. It may also be prescribed to help control high blood pressure.

How does it work?
It helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water from the body through urine. This reduces fluid buildup and can lower blood pressure.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and swallow it with water. Because it increases urination, follow the prescribed timing and do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Increased urination, dizziness, headache, weakness, low blood pressure, dehydration, and changes in blood salts such as low potassium or sodium.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney or liver disease, low blood pressure, dehydration, gout, diabetes, or an allergy to diuretics. Medical monitoring of kidney function, blood pressure, and electrolytes may be needed. Seek medical advice for severe dizziness, fainting, confusion, very low urine output, or signs of dehydration.
