What is it used for?
Used to prevent or treat anaemia caused by deficiency of iron, folic acid or vitamin B12. It helps support healthy red blood cell formation.
How does it work?
It supplies iron, folic acid and vitamin B12, which are needed to make haemoglobin and healthy red blood cells.
How to take/use it
Take it only as directed by a doctor or pharmacist. Do not take more than the recommended amount. If it causes stomach upset, taking it with food may help. Keep it out of the reach of children.
Common side effects
Nausea, stomach discomfort, constipation or diarrhoea, and dark-coloured stools may occur.
Precautions
Use under medical advice, especially if the cause of anaemia is unknown. Tell the doctor about iron-overload disorders, other blood disorders, or stomach and bowel problems. Iron may interact with some medicines, including antacids and certain antibiotics; ask a pharmacist about suitable spacing between doses.
