Composition:\
Thyroxine Sodium 12.5 mcg (Levothyroxine Sodium 12.5 mcg).
Uses:\
Used as thyroid hormone replacement therapy for an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). It helps restore normal thyroid hormone levels and relieve symptoms such as tiredness, feeling cold, and weight gain.
How to Use:\
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily on an empty stomach, 30–60 minutes before breakfast. Swallow the tablet with water. Take it at the same time each day. Keep a consistent interval from calcium, iron, and antacid medicines, as they can reduce its absorption.
Precautions & Warnings:\
Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, or adrenal gland problems. Regular thyroid blood tests are needed to monitor treatment and adjust the dose. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice. Taking too much may cause symptoms of excess thyroid hormone, such as fast heartbeat, sweating, tremors, or nervousness.
Possible Side Effects:\
Side effects are usually associated with an excessive dose and may include palpitations, rapid or irregular heartbeat, anxiety, tremors, sweating, headache, diarrhoea, difficulty sleeping, and weight loss. Seek medical attention for chest pain, severe or irregular heartbeat, or significant shortness of breath.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding:\
Levothyroxine is generally safe and important to continue during pregnancy when prescribed. Thyroid hormone requirements may change during pregnancy, so regular thyroid testing is important. It is generally compatible with breastfeeding when taken at the prescribed dose.
Storage:\
Store at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
Important Safety Information:\
Take levothyroxine consistently in relation to meals and other medicines. Separate calcium or iron supplements and antacids from levothyroxine by at least 4 hours unless your doctor advises otherwise. Attend regular thyroid blood tests to ensure the dose is appropriate. Do not use levothyroxine for weight loss.
