What is it used for?
This combination is used to reduce heavy menstrual bleeding and relieve period pain or cramps.
How does it work?
Tranexamic acid helps reduce bleeding by slowing the breakdown of blood clots. Mefenamic acid reduces the substances that cause menstrual cramps, pain and inflammation.
How to take/use it
Take only as prescribed by the doctor, preferably with or after food and with water. Do not take more than the recommended amount or use it for longer than advised.
Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, indigestion, stomach pain, headache and dizziness.
Precautions
Tell the doctor about a history of blood clots, kidney disease, stomach ulcers or bleeding, asthma or allergy to painkillers, or use of blood thinners. Seek urgent medical help for chest pain, breathlessness, painful leg swelling, sudden vision changes, severe rash, or signs of stomach bleeding. Consult a doctor if bleeding is unusually heavy, irregular or continues despite treatment.
