What is it used for?
Used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes when prescribed by a doctor.

How does it work?
Teneligliptin helps the body release more insulin after meals and reduces the release of sugar from the liver. Metformin also reduces sugar production by the liver and helps the body use insulin better.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, preferably with food. Swallow the extended-release tablet whole with water; do not crush, chew or split it. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, bloating, indigestion, metallic taste and headache may occur. Low blood sugar is more likely when used with insulin or certain other diabetes medicines.

Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is kidney or liver disease, severe infection, dehydration, heart failure, or heavy alcohol use. Medical advice is needed before surgery or an X-ray scan using iodinated contrast. Seek urgent medical help for severe weakness, unusual sleepiness, breathing difficulty, persistent vomiting or severe abdominal pain, as these may indicate a serious reaction. Monitor blood sugar as advised.
