What is it used for?
Teneligliptin is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
It belongs to a group of medicines called DPP-4 inhibitors. It helps the body release more insulin after meals and reduce the amount of glucose produced by the liver, helping lower blood sugar.

How to take/use it
Take it by mouth exactly as prescribed. It may generally be taken with or without food. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice. If a dose is missed, take it when remembered unless it is nearly time for the next dose; do not take an extra dose.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, stomach discomfort, headache, dizziness and cold-like symptoms may occur. Low blood sugar is more likely when used with insulin or sulfonylurea medicines.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, a history of pancreatitis, heart failure, or allergies to diabetes medicines. Seek medical help for severe or persistent stomach pain, swelling of the face or breathing difficulty, or a severe blistering skin rash. Pregnancy and breastfeeding require medical advice. Monitor blood sugar regularly as advised.
