What is it used for?
Used with a healthy diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
Teneligliptin increases the body's release of insulin after meals and reduces the release of hormones that raise blood sugar. Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and helps the body use insulin better.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, preferably with or after food, to reduce stomach upset. Take it regularly and do not change the dose or stop it without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the prescriber's instructions and do not take an extra dose.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, loss of appetite, bloating, metallic taste, headache, or mild weakness. Low blood sugar may occur, especially when used with other diabetes medicines.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, heart failure, heavy alcohol use, or a history of pancreatitis. Kidney function may need monitoring. Seek urgent medical help for severe or persistent vomiting, abdominal pain, unusual weakness, breathing difficulty, or symptoms of very low blood sugar. Inform the doctor before surgery or certain scans using contrast dye. This medicine should be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice.
