What is it used for?
This medicine is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) when treatment with one medicine alone is not enough. Lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of stroke and heart-related problems.

How does it work?
Telmisartan relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking the action of a hormone that raises blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water from the body.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day. It may be taken with or without food. Do not stop taking it without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Dizziness, headache, tiredness, increased urination, nausea, diarrhoea, and changes in blood electrolyte levels may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney or liver disease, dehydration, diabetes, gout, or any allergy to medicines. This medicine should not be used during pregnancy; inform the doctor immediately if pregnancy occurs. Regular blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte checks may be needed. Seek urgent medical help for swelling of the face, lips or throat, difficulty breathing, fainting, or severe dizziness.
