What is it used for?
This medicine is used to lower high blood pressure (hypertension). Controlling blood pressure helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and other blood-vessel complications.

How does it work?
Telmisartan relaxes blood vessels by blocking the action of a hormone that raises blood pressure. Cilnidipine further relaxes the blood vessels, while chlorthalidone helps the body remove extra salt and water through urine.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Swallow the tablet with water and take it at the same time each day. Do not stop it or change the dose without medical advice. Since it may increase urination, follow the timing advised by the doctor.

Common side effects
Dizziness, headache, tiredness, ankle or leg swelling, increased urination, and stomach upset may occur. Low blood pressure, dehydration, or changes in blood sodium or potassium can also occur.

Precautions
Monitor blood pressure regularly. Medical monitoring of kidney function, electrolytes and sometimes uric acid may be needed. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver disease, dehydration, gout, or frequent vomiting or diarrhoea. Avoid potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised. Telmisartan should not be used during pregnancy; inform the doctor if pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Seek medical advice if severe dizziness, fainting, marked weakness, or very little urine occurs.
