What is it used for?
This medicine is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Controlling blood pressure helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and other complications.

How does it work?
Telmisartan relaxes and widens blood vessels, while chlorthalidone helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water. Together, they lower blood pressure.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow with water. Do not stop treatment or take an extra dose without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Dizziness, light-headedness, increased urination, headache, nausea, tiredness, and changes in blood salts such as low sodium or potassium may occur.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision during pregnancy; telmisartan can seriously harm an unborn baby. Inform the doctor about kidney or liver disease, dehydration, low blood pressure, diabetes, high uric acid or gout, or electrolyte problems. Regular blood pressure, kidney-function and blood-salt checks may be needed. Avoid potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised. Rise slowly if dizzy and seek medical help for fainting, severe weakness, swelling of the face or difficulty breathing.
