What is it used for?
Tamsulosin is used to relieve urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate, such as difficulty starting urination, weak urine flow, frequent urination and a feeling that the bladder has not emptied fully.

How does it work?
It relaxes the muscles in the prostate and at the opening of the bladder. This helps urine flow more easily.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed. Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not crush or chew it. Follow the product label or prescriber's instructions about when to take it and take it consistently as directed.

Common side effects
Dizziness, headache, runny or blocked nose, and ejaculation problems may occur. Dizziness may be more noticeable when standing up.

Precautions
Rise slowly from sitting or lying down to reduce the risk of dizziness or fainting. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected. Tell the doctor before cataract or glaucoma surgery, as tamsulosin can affect the eye during surgery. Seek medical help for severe allergic symptoms or fainting.
