What is it used for?
Used to treat symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH), such as difficulty starting urination, weak urine flow, frequent urination and incomplete bladder emptying.

How does it work?
Tamsulosin relaxes the muscles around the prostate and bladder outlet to improve urine flow. Dutasteride lowers the hormone that contributes to prostate enlargement and may gradually reduce prostate size.

How to take/use it
Take only as prescribed by the doctor. Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not crush or chew it. Take it consistently as directed. Do not stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Dizziness, reduced sex drive, difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection, ejaculation problems or reduced semen, and breast tenderness or enlargement. A fall in blood pressure on standing may occur.

Precautions
Use caution if there is a history of low blood pressure, fainting or liver disease. Rise slowly from sitting or lying down. Tell the doctor before cataract surgery, and report severe dizziness or fainting. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle leaking capsules, as dutasteride may harm a male unborn baby. Keep this medicine away from children and women. It is used under medical supervision because prostate symptoms may need further evaluation.
