What is it used for?
This medicine is used to treat symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH), such as difficulty starting urination, weak or interrupted urine flow, frequent urination, and a feeling that the bladder has not emptied completely.

How does it work?
Tamsulosin relaxes the muscles around the prostate and bladder outlet to help urine flow more easily. Dutasteride reduces the hormone that contributes to prostate enlargement and may gradually reduce prostate size.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed. Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not chew, crush, or open it. Use it regularly as directed, and do not stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Dizziness, especially when standing up; reduced sex drive; difficulty getting or maintaining an erection; ejaculation problems or reduced semen; breast tenderness or enlargement; and headache.

Precautions
Rise slowly from sitting or lying down because dizziness or fainting may occur. Tell the doctor about liver disease, low blood pressure, or any allergy to this medicine. Inform the eye surgeon before cataract or glaucoma surgery. Dutasteride can lower PSA blood-test results, so doctors must be told that it is being used. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle leaking or broken capsules. Seek medical help for severe dizziness, allergic swelling, or inability to pass urine.
