What is it used for?
Used along with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
Sitagliptin helps the body release more insulin after meals and reduces the release of sugar by the liver. Dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove excess sugar from the body through urine.

How to take/use it
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Follow the prescribed schedule and do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice. Maintain adequate fluid intake unless a doctor has advised otherwise.

Common side effects
Increased urination, genital fungal infections, urinary tract infections, nausea, headache, dizziness and dehydration. Low blood sugar may occur, especially when used with insulin or certain other diabetes medicines.

Precautions
Inform the doctor about kidney disease, repeated urinary or genital infections, dehydration, low blood pressure, pancreatitis, or use of insulin or sulfonylureas. Seek urgent medical help for severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, difficulty breathing, unusual weakness, or confusion, as these may indicate ketoacidosis or another serious problem. Discuss its use during pregnancy, breastfeeding, prolonged fasting, serious illness or before surgery with a doctor.
