What is it used for?
This injection is used to treat serious bacterial infections, such as infections of the lungs, urinary tract, abdomen, skin and soft tissues, bones and joints, or blood. It does not work against viral infections such as cold or flu.

How does it work?
Cefoperazone kills bacteria by stopping them from building their protective cell wall. Sulbactam helps cefoperazone work against bacteria that can otherwise resist certain antibiotics.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given by injection into a vein or muscle by a doctor or trained healthcare professional. The dose and treatment duration depend on the type and severity of infection, kidney and liver function, and the patient’s response. Complete the prescribed course unless the doctor advises otherwise.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, rash, itching, and pain or irritation at the injection site may occur. Seek urgent medical help for severe diarrhoea, facial swelling, breathing difficulty, or a severe skin rash.

Precautions
Inform the doctor about any allergy to cefoperazone, sulbactam, penicillins, cephalosporins, or other antibiotics. Tell the doctor about liver disease, kidney disease, bleeding or clotting problems, or use of blood thinners. Medical monitoring may be needed during prolonged treatment. Avoid alcohol during treatment and for the period advised by the doctor, as cefoperazone may cause an unpleasant reaction. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice.
