What is it used for?
Silodosin 8 mg is used to relieve urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH), such as difficulty starting urination, weak urine flow, frequent urination and the need to urinate at night.
How does it work?
It relaxes the muscles around the prostate and bladder outlet, helping urine flow more easily.
How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, preferably with a meal. Swallow the capsule whole with water. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.
Common side effects
Reduced or absent semen during ejaculation, dizziness, low blood pressure on standing, stuffy nose, diarrhoea and headache.
Precautions
Use only under medical advice if there is kidney or liver disease. Rise slowly from sitting or lying down, as dizziness or fainting may occur. Tell the doctor before cataract surgery. Inform the doctor about medicines for high blood pressure, erectile dysfunction or other prostate medicines. Avoid driving until the effects are known.
