What is it used for?
Silodosin is used to relieve urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH), such as difficulty starting urination, weak urine flow, frequent urination and a feeling that the bladder has not fully emptied.

How does it work?
It blocks certain alpha-1 receptors in the prostate and bladder outlet, relaxing these muscles and making it easier for urine to flow.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, preferably with a meal. Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not crush or chew it. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Reduced or absent semen release during ejaculation, dizziness, low blood pressure on standing, headache, diarrhoea and nasal congestion.

Precautions
Rise slowly from sitting or lying down because dizziness or fainting may occur. Inform the doctor about kidney or liver problems, low blood pressure, or if cataract surgery is planned. Tell the doctor about medicines for high blood pressure or erectile dysfunction, as they may further lower blood pressure. Seek medical advice if severe dizziness, fainting or an allergic reaction occurs.
