What is it used for?
This medicine is used to treat certain bacterial infections. It does not work against viral infections such as the common cold or flu.

How does it work?
Cefpodoxime kills susceptible bacteria by preventing them from forming their protective cell wall. Clavulanic acid helps cefpodoxime work against some bacteria that can otherwise resist it.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, preferably with food, and complete the prescribed course even if symptoms improve. Do not skip doses or share this medicine with others.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain and headache may occur. Mild rash can also occur.

Precautions
Do not use it if there has been a serious allergy to cefpodoxime, other cephalosporins, penicillins or related antibiotics unless specifically advised by a doctor. Inform the doctor about kidney disease or a history of severe antibiotic-related diarrhoea. Seek medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, severe rash, or severe or persistent diarrhoea. Use only when prescribed, as unnecessary antibiotics can contribute to resistance.
