What is it used for?
Cefpodoxime is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, such as infections of the ear, throat, sinuses, lungs, urinary tract and skin, when prescribed by a doctor. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It kills susceptible bacteria by preventing them from forming their protective cell wall.

How to take/use it
Use only as prescribed by the doctor. Shake the suspension well before each use and measure it with a suitable measuring device. Complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Do not use leftover medicine or share it with others.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and headache. Skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Do not use if there has been a serious allergy to cefpodoxime, other cephalosporin antibiotics or certain penicillin-type antibiotics, unless advised by a doctor. Inform the doctor about kidney problems or previous antibiotic-related diarrhoea. Seek medical help for severe or persistent diarrhoea, facial swelling, breathing difficulty or a severe skin rash.
