What is it used for?
Cefpodoxime is a prescription antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, such as infections of the ear, throat, sinuses, lungs, urinary tract and skin. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It kills susceptible bacteria by preventing them from forming their protective cell wall.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and complete the full course, even if symptoms improve. Take the dispersible tablet only as directed on the product label or by the doctor. Do not share leftover antibiotics with others.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and headache. Skin rash may also occur.

Precautions
Do not use if there has been a serious allergy to cefpodoxime, other cephalosporin antibiotics or certain penicillins. Tell the doctor about kidney problems or previous antibiotic-related diarrhoea. Seek medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, severe rash, or severe or persistent watery or bloody diarrhoea.
