What is it used for?
Cefpodoxime is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, such as infections of the ears, throat, sinuses, chest, urinary tract and skin. It does not treat viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from building their protective cell wall, which helps kill the bacteria and clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Use only as prescribed by the doctor. Prepare and measure the suspension exactly as directed on the label, shake the bottle well before each use, and use a proper measuring device. Complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Do not use leftover medicine or share it with others.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and headache may occur. Skin rash can also occur.

Precautions
Do not use if there has been a serious allergy to cefpodoxime, other cephalosporins or certain penicillin antibiotics. Tell the doctor about kidney problems or previous antibiotic-related diarrhoea. Seek medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, severe rash, or severe or persistent diarrhoea. Use in children only on medical advice.
