What is it used for?
Sacubitril 49 mg + valsartan 51 mg is used to treat chronic heart failure. It helps reduce the strain on the heart and may lower the risk of hospitalisation due to worsening heart failure.

How does it work?
Sacubitril increases substances that help relax blood vessels and reduce salt and fluid buildup. Valsartan blocks a hormone effect that can narrow blood vessels and put extra strain on the heart.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same times each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet with water and do not stop treatment or change the dose without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the prescriber’s instructions.

Common side effects
Low blood pressure, dizziness, increased potassium levels, cough, and changes in kidney function may occur.

Precautions
Medical monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and potassium levels may be needed. Do not use during pregnancy. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, high potassium, low blood pressure, or any previous swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat caused by medicines. Do not take with an ACE inhibitor; a suitable gap is required when switching from an ACE inhibitor. Avoid potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised by a doctor.
