What is it used for?
Povidone iodine 5% cream is a topical antiseptic used to help prevent or treat infection in minor cuts, grazes, burns and other superficial skin wounds.

How does it work?
It releases iodine, which kills or inactivates many types of bacteria and other microorganisms on the skin.

How to take/use it
For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer as directed on the product label or by a healthcare professional. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth and other sensitive areas. Do not use on deep wounds, serious burns or large areas without medical advice.

Common side effects
Mild skin irritation, redness, itching, dryness or temporary staining of the skin may occur.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to povidone iodine or other iodine-containing products. Seek medical advice before use on large or deep wounds, for prolonged use, or if there is worsening redness, swelling, pain, pus or fever. Use with medical advice if there is thyroid disease, lithium treatment, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Stop use and seek urgent help if severe irritation, swelling or breathing difficulty occurs.
