What is it used for?
Povidone iodine cream is a topical antiseptic used to help prevent infection in minor cuts, grazes, burns and other superficial wounds.

How does it work?
It releases iodine, which kills or reduces many bacteria, viruses and fungi on the skin.

How to take/use it
For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer as directed on the product label or by a healthcare professional. Avoid contact with the eyes and mouth. Do not apply to deep or large wounds without medical advice.

Common side effects
Temporary skin irritation, redness, dryness or staining may occur. Stop use and seek medical help if severe irritation or an allergic reaction develops.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to iodine or povidone iodine. Avoid prolonged or repeated use, application over large areas, or use on deep wounds or severe burns unless advised by a healthcare professional. Ask a doctor before use if there is thyroid disease, lithium treatment, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Seek medical advice if the wound becomes more painful, swollen, red or produces pus.
