What is it used for?
This medicine is used to help prevent further heart attacks, strokes and blood-clot-related heart problems in people with coronary artery disease or other established cardiovascular disease. It may also be prescribed after angioplasty or placement of a heart stent. The exact reason for use should be confirmed with the prescribing doctor.

How does it work?
Rosuvastatin lowers harmful LDL cholesterol. Aspirin and clopidogrel reduce the ability of platelets to stick together, helping prevent harmful blood clots.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed and swallow the tablet whole with water. Take it at the same time each day if possible. Do not stop it without medical advice, especially after a heart stent. Do not take extra doses if one is missed; follow the doctor’s instructions.

Common side effects
Easy bruising or bleeding, indigestion, stomach discomfort, nausea, headache, dizziness and muscle aches may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any history of stomach ulcer or bleeding, liver or kidney disease, bleeding disorders, aspirin allergy, or planned surgery or dental treatment. Avoid starting painkillers such as ibuprofen or other blood thinners unless advised by a doctor. Report unusual or prolonged bleeding, black stools, vomiting blood, severe muscle pain or weakness, or yellowing of the skin or eyes urgently. Rosuvastatin should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless specifically advised by a doctor.
