What is it used for?
Amoxycillin is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, such as infections of the ear, throat, chest, skin, urinary tract and other parts of the body. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It kills susceptible bacteria by preventing them from making the protective cell wall they need to survive.

How to take/use it
Use only as prescribed. Prepare the dry syrup exactly as instructed on the label or by the pharmacist. Shake the suspension well before each use and measure it with the supplied measuring device. Complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Do not share leftover medicine.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Do not use if there has been a serious allergy to amoxycillin, penicillin or related antibiotics. Seek urgent medical help for difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or a severe blistering rash. Contact a doctor if diarrhoea is severe, persistent or contains blood. Tell the doctor about any kidney problems or previous antibiotic-related reactions.
