What is it used for?
Amoxycillin is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, including infections of the ears, throat, chest, urinary tract, skin and teeth. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from forming their protective cell wall, which kills the bacteria and helps clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor. As this is a dispersible tablet, disperse it in the recommended amount of water if instructed, and take it immediately. Complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Do not share antibiotics or use leftover medicine.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Do not take it if there has been a serious allergy to amoxycillin, penicillin or related antibiotics. Tell the doctor about any previous antibiotic allergy or kidney problems. Seek urgent medical help for breathing difficulty, swelling of the face or throat, severe rash, or severe or persistent diarrhoea.
