What is it used for?
Diclofenac injection is used for short-term relief of moderate to severe pain and inflammation, such as pain affecting the muscles, joints or bones. It is generally used when an injection is needed and other forms of medicine may not be suitable.

How does it work?
It reduces the production of substances called prostaglandins that cause pain, swelling and inflammation.

How to take/use it
This injection must be given by a doctor or trained healthcare professional. Do not self-inject. Use it only for the prescribed duration and do not take additional diclofenac or other painkillers of the same type unless advised by a doctor.

Common side effects
Nausea, indigestion, stomach pain, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness and pain or irritation at the injection site.

Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is a history of stomach ulcer or bleeding, asthma triggered by painkillers, heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney or liver problems, or an allergy to diclofenac or other NSAID painkillers. Avoid use in pregnancy, especially during the last three months, unless specifically prescribed. Seek urgent medical help for black stools, vomiting blood, severe stomach pain, breathing difficulty, facial swelling, chest pain or a severe skin reaction.
