What is it used for?
Ramipril 5 mg is mainly used to treat high blood pressure. It may also be prescribed for heart failure or to reduce the risk of certain heart-related problems, depending on the doctor's assessment.

How does it work?
It is an ACE inhibitor that relaxes and widens blood vessels. This lowers blood pressure and reduces the workload on the heart.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow with water and do not stop treatment without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Dry cough, dizziness, headache, tiredness, nausea, and low blood pressure, especially when starting treatment or increasing the dose.

Precautions
Do not use during pregnancy; contact a doctor promptly if pregnancy occurs. Tell the doctor about kidney disease, dehydration, liver disease, previous swelling of the face or throat, or use of potassium supplements, potassium-containing salt substitutes, diuretics, or painkillers such as ibuprofen. Blood pressure, kidney function, and potassium levels may need monitoring. Seek urgent medical help for swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing.
