What is it used for?
Ramipril 2.5 mg is mainly used to treat high blood pressure. It may also be prescribed for heart failure or to help reduce the risk of certain heart and blood-vessel problems.

How does it work?
It is an ACE inhibitor that relaxes and widens blood vessels. This lowers blood pressure and makes it easier for the heart to pump blood.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, usually at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet with water and do not stop treatment without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided by the prescriber or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Dry cough, dizziness, headache, tiredness, nausea and low blood pressure, especially when starting treatment or increasing the dose.

Precautions
Do not use during pregnancy; tell the doctor immediately if pregnancy occurs. Inform the doctor about kidney disease, low blood pressure, dehydration, diabetes, or use of potassium supplements, potassium-containing salt substitutes, diuretics or anti-inflammatory painkillers. Seek urgent medical help for swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing. Regular blood pressure, kidney function and potassium checks may be needed.
