What is it used for?
Rabeprazole is used to reduce excess stomach acid and relieve acidity, heartburn and acid reflux. It may also be prescribed for stomach or intestinal ulcers and other acid-related conditions.

How does it work?
It is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it. It is commonly taken before food, but follow the instructions provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, stomach pain and gas.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any allergy to rabeprazole or other acid-reducing medicines, pregnancy or breastfeeding, liver problems, and all other medicines being used. Seek medical advice for difficulty swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools, unexplained weight loss or persistent symptoms. Long-term use should be monitored by a doctor.
