What is it used for?
Ranitidine reduces excess stomach acid. It is used for acidity and heartburn, acid reflux (GERD), and stomach or duodenal ulcers when prescribed.
How does it work?
It blocks histamine H2 receptors in the stomach, reducing the production of stomach acid.
How to take/use it
Take only as directed by a doctor or according to the product label. Do not take more or use it for longer than recommended. Swallow the tablet with water. Seek medical advice if symptoms continue or return.
Common side effects
Headache, nausea, stomach pain, diarrhoea, or constipation may occur.
Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems and all other medicines being taken. Seek medical advice for difficulty swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools, unexplained weight loss, or persistent symptoms.
