What is it used for?
Pantoprazole 40 mg is used to reduce excess stomach acid and relieve acidity, heartburn and acid reflux. It may also be prescribed for stomach or intestinal ulcers and other acid-related conditions.

How does it work?
It reduces the production of acid in the stomach by blocking acid-producing pumps in the stomach lining.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it. Take it at the time advised by the doctor, preferably before food if instructed.

Common side effects
Headache, diarrhoea, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting and gas.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any allergy to pantoprazole or similar medicines, liver problems, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Seek medical advice for unexplained weight loss, difficulty swallowing, repeated vomiting, vomiting blood, black stools or persistent symptoms. Long-term use should be monitored by a doctor.
