What is it used for?
Pantoprazole is used to reduce excess stomach acid and treat acidity, heartburn, acid reflux (GERD), and stomach or duodenal ulcers. It may also be used with antibiotics to help treat Helicobacter pylori-related ulcers, when prescribed.

How does it work?
It reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach by blocking the stomach’s acid-producing pumps. This helps relieve heartburn and allows acid-related irritation or ulcers to heal.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, usually before a meal. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it. Do not continue long-term use without medical advice.

Common side effects
Headache, diarrhoea, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, constipation, and gas may occur.

Precautions
Tell a doctor if there is liver disease, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or a history of allergy to pantoprazole or similar medicines. Seek medical advice for difficulty swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools, unexplained weight loss, persistent vomiting, or chest pain. Long-term use should be medically supervised, as it may affect magnesium, vitamin B12, or bone health and may interact with some medicines.
