What is it used for?
Pantoprazole 40 mg injection is used to reduce excess stomach acid in conditions such as acidity, heartburn, acid reflux and ulcers. It is usually given when treatment by mouth is not suitable, under medical supervision.
How does it work?
It blocks the stomach's acid-producing proton pumps, thereby reducing the amount of acid released into the stomach.
How to take/use it
This medicine is given as an injection into a vein by a doctor or nurse. It should not be self-administered. The dose and duration depend on the condition being treated and the medical advice provided.
Common side effects
Headache, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, constipation, dizziness or pain at the injection site.
Precautions
Tell the doctor about any allergy to pantoprazole or similar medicines, liver problems, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Seek medical help for severe or persistent diarrhoea, rash, swelling of the face or difficulty breathing. Long-term treatment should be used only under medical supervision.
