What is it used for?
Used as an oral rinse to help reduce dental plaque and gum inflammation (gingivitis), while fluoride helps strengthen tooth enamel and protect against tooth decay. Zinc may also help reduce unpleasant mouth odour.

How does it work?
Chlorhexidine reduces the growth of bacteria that contribute to plaque and gum problems. Sodium fluoride strengthens tooth enamel, and zinc can help control odour-causing compounds in the mouth.

How to take/use it
Use only as directed on the product label or by a dentist. Rinse around the mouth and spit it out; do not swallow. Do not use more often or for longer than recommended. Keep it separate from toothbrushing if advised, as some toothpaste ingredients may reduce chlorhexidine's effect.

Common side effects
Temporary staining of the teeth or tongue, altered taste, mouth irritation, dryness, or increased tartar may occur, particularly with prolonged chlorhexidine use.

Precautions
Do not swallow. Stop use and seek medical advice if swelling, rash, breathing difficulty, or other signs of allergy occur. Chlorhexidine may cause noticeable staining, so inform the dentist if it is being used for an extended period. Keep out of reach of children, as swallowing fluoride-containing products can be harmful.
