What is it used for?
Used to relieve acidity, heartburn and acid reflux (GERD), especially when these symptoms are associated with nausea or vomiting.
How does it work?
Omeprazole reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Domperidone helps stomach contents move forward and can reduce nausea and vomiting.
How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, usually before food. Swallow the capsule or tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it. Do not use it for a prolonged period without medical advice.
Common side effects
Headache, stomach pain or discomfort, nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, gas and dry mouth.
Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is a history of heart rhythm problems, heart disease, liver disease, low potassium or magnesium, or if medicines that affect heart rhythm are being used. Avoid self-use and seek medical advice for prolonged or recurrent symptoms. Seek urgent help for fainting or a fast or irregular heartbeat. Consult a doctor during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
