What is it used for?
Used to relieve occasional constipation and help make hard stools easier to pass.

How does it work?
Milk of magnesia draws water into the bowel to soften stool and encourage bowel movement. Liquid paraffin lubricates the stool and bowel, helping it pass more easily.

How to take/use it
For oral use only. Take exactly as directed on the product label or by a healthcare professional. Measure the liquid accurately and do not exceed the recommended amount. Do not use regularly or for a long period without medical advice.

Common side effects
Loose stools or diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, bloating, nausea and stomach discomfort. Liquid paraffin may occasionally cause leakage or irritation around the anus.

Precautions
Seek medical advice before use if there is severe or persistent abdominal pain, vomiting, abdominal swelling or suspected bowel blockage. Use cautiously in kidney disease, swallowing difficulties, or in people who are elderly or bedridden, as liquid paraffin may enter the lungs if swallowed incorrectly. Keep a gap from other oral medicines if advised by a healthcare professional, as milk of magnesia may affect their absorption. Consult a healthcare professional during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
