What is it used for?
Ofloxacin Infusion is an antibiotic used in hospitals to treat serious bacterial infections. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It kills bacteria by blocking enzymes needed for bacterial DNA replication, stopping the infection from spreading.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given slowly into a vein by a doctor or nurse. The dose and treatment duration depend on the type and severity of infection, kidney function and medical advice. Do not stop treatment early unless advised by a doctor.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, dizziness and pain or irritation at the infusion site may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about allergies to ofloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics, kidney disease, heart rhythm problems, seizures, diabetes, nerve disorders or a history of tendon problems. Seek medical help for tendon pain or swelling, severe or persistent diarrhoea, numbness or tingling, severe mood or nerve-related symptoms, rash, breathing difficulty or fainting. Use during pregnancy, breastfeeding and in children only when specifically prescribed. Avoid driving if dizzy or affected by vision or nervous-system symptoms.
