What is it used for?
Ofloxacin 200 mg in sodium chloride 0.9% is an intravenous antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to ofloxacin. It does not treat viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that stops bacteria from making the DNA they need to grow and survive.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given as a slow intravenous infusion by a doctor or nurse. The dose, frequency and treatment duration depend on the type and severity of infection and the patient's condition. Complete the prescribed course unless a healthcare professional advises otherwise.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, dizziness, sleep disturbance and pain or irritation at the injection site may occur.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision. Tell the doctor about allergy to quinolone antibiotics, tendon problems, kidney disease, seizures, heart rhythm problems, diabetes, or pregnancy or breastfeeding. Seek medical help for tendon pain or swelling, numbness or tingling, severe mood or nerve symptoms, a serious rash or breathing difficulty, severe or persistent diarrhoea, or palpitations. Avoid unnecessary exposure to strong sunlight during treatment.
