What is it used for?
Ofloxacin is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections. It does not work for viral infections such as the common cold or flu.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from making the genetic material they need to grow and multiply.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, with water, and complete the prescribed course. Do not take it with antacids or mineral supplements containing aluminium, magnesium, iron or zinc at the same time; follow the recommended separation advised by the prescriber or pharmacist. Do not self-medicate or share this antibiotic.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, dizziness and sleep disturbances may occur.

Precautions
Use only on medical advice. Tell the prescriber about kidney disease, a history of tendon problems, seizures, heart rhythm problems, or pregnancy or breastfeeding. Stop the medicine and seek medical help for tendon pain or swelling, numbness or tingling, severe mood or nerve-related symptoms, fainting, severe diarrhoea, or an allergic reaction. Avoid driving if dizzy or affected.
