What is it used for?
Ofloxacin 200 mg is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, such as urinary tract, respiratory, skin and other infections when the bacteria are susceptible. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It kills susceptible bacteria by blocking enzymes they need to multiply and survive.

How to take/use it
Take it only when prescribed and follow the doctor’s instructions. Swallow with water and complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Do not take it at the same time as antacids or mineral supplements containing aluminium, magnesium, calcium, iron or zinc; separate them as advised by a doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, dizziness and difficulty sleeping may occur.

Precautions
Do not use it for viral infections or without medical advice. Stop taking it and seek medical help for tendon pain or swelling, severe or persistent diarrhoea, numbness or tingling, severe mood or nerve-related symptoms, rash, breathing difficulty or a fast or irregular heartbeat. Use only under medical supervision if pregnant, breastfeeding, under 18, or if there is a history of seizures, tendon problems, heart-rhythm disorders or kidney disease. Avoid excessive sun exposure and tell the doctor about all medicines being taken.
