What is it used for?
Nimesulide is a pain-relieving and fever-reducing medicine used for short-term treatment of acute pain and inflammation, such as muscle or joint pain.

How does it work?
It reduces the production of substances called prostaglandins that cause pain, swelling and fever.

How to take/use it
Take only as prescribed. Swallow the tablet with water, preferably after food. Do not take more than the recommended dose or use it for longer than advised.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain, indigestion, dizziness and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Use only under medical advice, especially if there is liver disease, stomach ulcer or bleeding, kidney disease, heart disease or high blood pressure. Avoid alcohol and taking other painkillers or NSAIDs unless advised by a doctor. It should generally be avoided during pregnancy, particularly after 20 weeks and in the last three months. Stop taking it and seek medical help if there is yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, severe stomach pain, unusual bleeding, breathing difficulty or a serious skin reaction.
